Open Belgium was a community-driven conference about open knowledge and open data, packed with talks and discussions on the openness of Belgium — from a local point of view to a European perspective. It brought national and international keynotes, cases and workshops on new evolutions and best practices, and rounded off with a networking moment among attendees and speakers.
The conference started as part of the three-day DataDays event in Ghent and grew into a yearly gathering that alternated between Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels. It brought together IT experts, local authorities, open-data hackers, researchers and companies — data publishers sitting next to users, citizen developers and communities to openly discuss the next steps for open knowledge in Belgium and beyond.
