Open summer of code

Open Summer of Code was an intense summer programme that gave students with development, communication, design and business skills a summer job with a real challenge: turning open-innovation projects into powerful real-world services for real organisations and companies.

The oSoc team provided training, a network and the support students needed, creating a setting where partners, civic technologists, students, coaches and organisers came together to collaborate and prototype the future.

It all started in 2011, when six students took on the challenge of iRail Summer of Code in Belgium. The name changed to Open Summer of Code in 2013, and five years later oSoc grew its international family for the first time with a Spanish edition. In 2020, the global pandemic pushed the edition fully remote.
